Marya Barrios Vinyasa Instructor, Fusion Movement Instructor
Born in Venezuela, Marya was part of her parents’ dance schools/company since she can remember. At the age of 12, her interests transitioned to music and began to play guitar and cello. Within 3 years, she was playing with the regional orchestra and the Venezuelan Youth orchestra. Years later she graduated with a BA in Music technology and related arts from Oberlin College. Life started to change once she began her study of martial arts.
Martial arts taught taught Marya the importance of respect and service in her personal and professional life, leading her to the 200-hour yoga teacher training at Yoga on High. She holds a First Degree Black Belt, 9th Chien Shuai Chiao Kung- Fu training at OSU under the tutelage of Sifu Mike Grigsby since 2010, a Level II certification on Shaolin Tai- Chi Chuan Yang Style with Sifu Victor Frias solano since 2014. She has also trained in boxing and holds a Tang Soo Do 5th belt. She currently works teaching Deep Stretch, Flow Yoga, Power Yoga, Vinyasa Yoga, Hot Yoga and Bootcamp, Tai- Chi, Boxing for beginners, Aqua classes in different studios in the Columbus area.
Her diverse training brings Marya to explore the synergy of varied physical, artistic and holistic practices to bring a deeper understanding of each individual healing process, creating breath, mind and body awareness.
