Meena Khasnabis, mother of Centered owner Shoma Jha, created this beautiful alpana, a mandala art form unique to Bengal in eastern India. Traditionally, alpona is created with a rice based paint. Learn the history, the intricacies of technique and create your own alpana! In this special workshop. We will begin with centering and movement to unleash creative energy. With the guidance of Meena, you will have the opportunity to practice this meditative art. While your creation dries, we will surrender to a luxurious savasana. While growing up in Bangalore Meena found inspiration in fine arts through her parents, college town culture and natural surroundings. Her special interest is in the design of alpana. Meena has extended upon her artistic skills over the years by taking courses in other art media such as acrylic, water color, colored pencil drawing, Sumi painting and ceramics to name a few. She now lives in Ann Arbor with her husband. They have two daughters and six grandchildren.

Hi Shoma, may I still participate in the workshop tomorrow with your mother? How many spots do you have open?
